The kindest cut

This is a picture of the front right lower fender before I removed the rest of the Bondo with the 3M abrasive disc. What lurked below all that butter was a good bit of rust, which is very common on these cars. This evening my friends Domenic and Glenn came by for a visit (Glenn has a beautifully restored 74 GTV and has great metal shaping and bodywork experience) and to give me some pointers. We turned on my plasma cutter and cut out the infected area. Replacements are available from Wolf Steel http://www.alfaparts.net/105_115gtv.html which I'll weld in with my Mig welder (once all the rust has been removed).

As you can see, there is some more rust that needs to
removed but I'm very heartened that I got the bad
piece out, didn't catch myself or my house on fire, and
that I've made the first step toward getting this body
shell healthy
